The ANC is the biggest obstacle for SA economic growth – Economist

The biggest obstacle for the South African economy is the ANC. That’s the view of economist Dawie Roodt who says that poor and vulnerable South Africans need to be supported especially as the cost of living continues to spike. Roodt says the ANC is hampering this growth.

ACSA secures additional jet fuel stocks for CT International

The Airports Company South Africa has managed to secure an additional 2 million litres of jet fuel stocks for Cape Town International Airport. ACSA says it had put plans in place to avoid flight disruptions after a vessel carrying its refill shipment had been delayed at sea due to adverse weather conditions. The Airports Company says the public need not panic as flights will continue to land and depart from the airport as per the schedule.

Eskom shouldn’t be burdening South Africans already struggling financially – Winde

The Western Cape Government calls on Eskom to stabilise its financial needs without further burdening the citizens.

The call comes amid Eskom’s 32 percent proposed increase on electricity tariff.

Premier Alan Winde urges the National Energy Regulator of South Africa to reject the proposed tariff increase as South Africans are already battling with the pace of inflation and cost of living.

Kenya’s new president faced with challenge of uniting his country

Kenya’s new president, William Ruto, has announced his new cabinet.

Ruto was declared the winner of a hotly contested election in Kenya last month.

The president has failed to achieve his promise of gender diversity in his cabinet appointments as he appointed only seven women to the 22-member cabinet.

Ruto faces the challenge of uniting Kenya after the divisive election campaign against Raila Odinga.

Robot breaks record by running 100 metres in less than 30 seconds

A robot developed at Oregon State University broke a Guinness World Record by running 100 meters on two legs in less than a half-minute. Cassie the robot previously managed to run a 5-kilometer course last year in just over 53 minutes. The development team said Cassie is the first bipedal robot to use machine learning to control a running gait on outdoor terrain.
