Kaizer Chiefs believe new attacker Elias Mokwana (https://iol.co.za/sport/soccer/psl/2026-11-03-delayed-not-denied-chiefs-finally-land-elias-mokwana/) has gained valuable experience during his spells in Tunisia and Saudi Arabia after completing his move to the club on local election day on Wednesday.

Mokwana had been linked with a move to Chiefs earlier in the week after parting ways with Espérance Tunis, who loaned him to Saudi Pro League side Al Hazem last season.

Chiefs confirmed the 27-year-old’s arrival on Wednesday, highlighting the experience he brings after leaving Sekhukhune United for greener pastures two seasons ago, despite reported interest from Amakhosi at the time.

“Kaizer Chiefs have signed Bafana Bafana international Mokwana. The talented winger joins the club after gaining valuable experience in North Africa and the Middle East,” the club said in a statement.

“The 27-year-old, who hails from KwaMhlanga in Mpumalanga, returns to South African football after spending the past two seasons abroad following his move from Sekhukhune United to Tunisian giants, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, in 2024.”

That experience could prove valuable for Chiefs, who are in desperate need of a player capable of leading from the front. Their wingers, including Luke Baartman and Asanele Velebayi, have struggled for consistency at times this season, with inexperience also playing a role.

Mokwana’s arrival could therefore provide a timely boost, although Chiefs have yet to disclose the length of his contract.

However, his signing will also come with expectations. In the past, some players who eventually joined Amakhosi after being linked with the club earlier failed to make the desired impact, prompting questions over whether they had arrived past their best.
