City’s Traffic Services impounds more than 230 public transport vehicles over the past week
The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Services says it impounded more than 230 public transport vehicles over the past week and executed 1,130 warrants of arrests. Over the same time period the City’s Traffic Services also arrested 40 people for driving under the influence while a further 12 were arrested for reckless and negligent driving.
City sets up task team to investigate extortion
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the city is setting up a task team to investigate extortion cases affecting service delivery. Waste collection and sewage drainage services have been delayed in Samora Machel for nearly two weeks following the murder of a contract worker. Law enforcement agencies are being deployed to escort contractors and municipal vehicles.
Vodacom spends more than R4billion on loadshedding solutions since 2020
Mobile network Vodacom says the continue rolling blackouts saw it needing to fork out just over R300million over the past financial year. It says it spent more than R4billion on alternative sources of power including batteries and generators since 2020. The network says the load shedding has been disastrous for the country’s telecommunications industry.

A 23 year old American social media influencer has jumped onto the AI bandwagon by renting out an AI clone of herself to be your girlfriend for R20 a minute. It seems everyone is cashing in on the craze, with Caryn Marjorie hardly having time for her fans, as she had to create a separate Telegram group for her super fans who pay to have a moment of her time. The influencer says she is set to earn around $5million a month renting out her virtual AI clone.
