Multiple lives were lost on the N1 between Prince Albert and Leeu-Gamka in the Western Cape on Sunday night.
According to reports, at least 21 people were killed.
The N1 has been closed in both directions following the crash. The cause of the accident is not yet known.
Western Cape Mobility Department spokesperson Muneera Allie told IOL they would issue an update on the incident.
