Electricity Minister says failures at several units meant Eskom needed to ramp up loadshedding stages

Electricity minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says that the failure of units at several power stations had forced Eskom to ramp up loadshedding stages. The minister says that the recent performance of the power grid had been disappointing over the last two weeks. He said that over that time period the utility had seen a deterioration in the rate at which Eskom’s generating units are failing.
