Gautrain and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) will run special late-night train services to accommodate thousands of fans attending the Scorpion Kings Live [with Friends] concert at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday.
The service, announced on PRASA’s official TikTok account, will operate from 8.30pm until 1.45am, offering concertgoers a safe alternative to driving.
Gautrain passengers will connect at Pretoria Station, where PRASA trains will transport them directly to Loftus Versfeld.
Return trips will be available between Hatfield and Park Stations, although the late-night service will not extend to Rhodesfield or O.R. Tambo International Airport.
Concert gates open at 1pm, with a pre-show scheduled from 2pm to 6pm, followed by the main performance from 6pm until midnight.
Organisers have confirmed that there will be no entry after 9pm and no pass-outs during the event.
“The integrated train service is a seamless transport solution for concertgoers. They can avoid traffic congestion and the risks of drinking and driving by choosing our safe and convenient train option,” said Tshepo Kgobe, CEO of the Gautrain Management Agency.
“This late-night integrated train service is exactly what is needed to help ease pressure on our roads,” Kgobe concluded.
After the concert, attendees will be able to board PRASA trains from Loftus Versfeld back to Pretoria Station, where they can transfer to the Gautrain to continue to their final destinations.
The late-night service will operate between 11pm and 1.30am, with the last PRASA train leaving Loftus for Pretoria Station at 1.30am. From there, the final Gautrain is scheduled to depart Pretoria Station at 1.45am, ensuring safe and reliable travel home for concertgoers
