Experience the best of the Cape with Steven Taylor’s Magic 828 “Out and About” guide on activities and experiences happening this weekend.

Jolly Fund Run

Taking place in Stellenbosch on Sunday 16 October, the Jolly Fun Run is a fundraising event
for the FIG full gymnastics floor at the Stellenbosch Gymnastics. It is not a timed event, as it is a fun run to raise funds.

The day will be filled with family fun, games, face painting and lucky draws. Bring the whole family and come run for fun. There are amazing prizes for the top three finishers for each distance, men and women.

The distances that will be hosted:

  • · 2.5km – R70 – Start: 08:30
  • · 5km – R100 – Start: 08:15
  • · 10km – R150 – Start: 08:00

Registration and number collection starts at 7:30 at Spier wine farm. Tickets and more info via Quicket.

Cabaret 2022

This year’s fundraiser, hosted by the Rondebosch Boys’ High E’23 matric class, is Cabaret, held in the Reeler Centre. It will be an evening of upbeat, rock music and modern-day classics performed by the Bosch boys.

Limited tickets are available, please book early to avoid disappointment. Here are the dates of the performances.

  • Saturday 15 October (book early – these sell fast)
  • Sunday 16 October
  • Tuesday 18 October
  • Wednesday 19 October

A tuck-shop will be open for cool drinks and snacks. No alcohol will be for sale. Please bring your own alcoholic refreshments. Glasses and ice will be available.

The cost is R130 for the show only and R210 for dinner and the show.

Franschhoek Uncorked

Taking place this weekend, 15 to 16 October is the Franschhoek Uncorked Festival. What better excuse to explore one of South Africa’s premier wine destinations, whilst uncovering a fine selection of wine gems from the Franschhoek Vignerons.

Live music and great food add extra excitement to a fun day out.

Pre-book your Uncorked Weekend Pass which cost R220 per person. Your Uncorked Weekend Pass (valid for all two days) allows you access to all of the participating wine farms as well as a complimentary tasting glass and two wine tastings per winery.

Nourish to Flourish Ladies High Tea

Hosted by the women of CRC Hermanus, a renowned dietician, Hilda Woudstra will be the guest speaker for the morning along with an exceptional performance by singer Loren Erasmus.

The event brings women together to learn about how you can nurture all the things that make you unique as a woman! Focusing on the health of your body, your mind, and your soul!

The event will include extra entertainment for the ladies as well as finger snacks.
