A 14 year old girl managed to escape being abducted by a man at a Guy Fawkes event in Christchurch New Zealand at the weekend. The girls father says it was brazen for the man to have attempted to abduct his daughter at a venue with more than 14,000 people and heightened police and security on the scene. This is said to have not been the first case reported of abductions or attempted abductions in crowded areas in parts of New Zealand.
With more than 100 days of loadshedding recorded this year, Eskom says we will have to battle through yet another week of power cuts. The power utility says it is continuing to suffer breakdowns at various power stations, saying the rolling blackouts are necessary to replenish emergency generation reserves. The current bout of power cuts is said to remain in place this week.
