Innocent Cindi, who performs under the stage name Icee ZA, has finally released his highly anticipated EP “From Rus 2 The World”.
The name Icee ZA comes from the initials of his first and last names.
Born and raised in Vosloorus, the township has deeply influenced his upbringing and inspired much of his musical journey.
“Vosloorus shaped me,” he said. “It gave me the stories, the energy and the rhythm that I carry into my music.”
His interest in music began early. As a child, he would tap on desks in class, creating playful rhythms while his peers danced along.
“I realised that I could make people move even without instruments,” he recalled. At 14, he began DJing, which became his first step into the music industry. A close friend later introduced him to FL Studio.
“The moment I opened that software, I was hooked,” he explained. “I wanted to create my own tracks, my own sound.”
That curiosity grew into dedication, and soon he was producing his own music, marking the start of his career as a producer.
“Sondzela”, the lead single from the EP, is a love song that draws from Icee ZA’s personal experiences. “It reflects the love, warmth and compassion I feel with my family,” he said.
“Family is one of life’s greatest blessings, and through this track, I wanted to show how much those bonds shape who we are.”
The song carries an intimate message, emphasising the importance of relationships that sustain and inspire him every day.
The EP represents his journey from Vosloorus to the international stage.
“It’s about where I come from and where I want to go,” he explained.
“I want my music to reach people across the globe. I believe my sound is universal, and it can connect with listeners from different cultures and backgrounds.” The title is both a statement of origin and a promise to share his music beyond local boundaries.
For Icee ZA, music is more than entertainment.
“It is a journey,” he said.
“Songs carry people through moments in life – whether joyful or difficult. A song can hold a memory, a feeling or a chapter of your life. Even after the moment passes, the music stays with you.”
He sees each track as a companion, a piece of his story that listeners can carry with them wherever they go.
