The fact that Kaizer Chiefs have maintained their strong start to the new Betway Premiership season is no small feat, but they have little time to savour their success as they take on Golden Arrows, at Moses Mabhida Stadium, on Saturday.
Last season, Chiefs won their first three league games in a row before losing to Mamelodi Sundowns in their fourth match.
As luck would have it, Chiefs played Sundowns again in their fourth game, but this time they managed a goalless draw – which may be a good indicator of their ability to challenge the champions this season.
Though Chiefs had just 37% of the ball, they managed many more shots at goal with their 13 attempts to just the seven of the visitors at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
Chiefs’ Strong Start: No Goals Conceded After Four Games
However, the most encouraging stat for Chiefs fans after four games is that they are yet to concede a goal this term.
Having begun their campaign with an away victory over Stellenbosch FC on August 10, this will be the second time Chiefs hit the road in the league.
Playing in Durban though, will feel anything but a home game as masses of Chiefs fans always turn up to cheer on their team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup stadium.
It will also be the last game before the league pauses for the international break for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, in which Bafana Bafana will be looking to qualify for the tournament for the first time since 2002 (they gained automatic entry as hosts in 2010).
