Tickets sold online for this month’s Soweto derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates on February 28 sold out within two hours of going on sale, underlining the renewed excitement surrounding South African football’s most iconic fixture.
Chiefs announced on Tuesday morning that tickets had been made available on My Ticket, Shoprite, Checkers, with all categories – including general admission and family zone packages – snapped up rapidly by supporters. Prices ranged from R120 to R320.
Tickets are still available at Shoprite and Checkers.
The swift sell-out comes amid heightened anticipation around the fixture, with both Chiefs and Pirates firmly involved in the Betway Premiership title race for the first time in several seasons. The two Soweto giants are currently challenging reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns, adding extra significance to a derby that has already long transcended football.
