Kim Kardashian and Wesley Snipes aren’t two names you usually hear in the same sentence, but according to Kim, the “Blade” star played a pivotal role in her teenage years.

During a recent appearance on her sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast, Khloé in Wonderland, Kim shared an unexpected story involving the actor that happened when she was just 17 years old.

The encounter took place while Kim was visiting New York City with older friends. After a night at a club and a subsequent house party, she realised she had lost the $20 her friend had given her for a cab.

This, of course, was a major problem in an era when, as Khloé noted, “people didn’t carry mobile phones.”

It’s a fascinating look at Kim’s life before she became a household name. While Snipes’ “schooling” kept her grounded at 17, she would eventually face much more public scrutiny.

At age 23, the infamous tape with Ray J was recorded. Years later, the tape was leaked and changed the trajectory of her career and pop culture forever.

Today, the tables have turned. Now a mother of four, Kim is the one doing the protecting.

“I just want to say, Wesley Snipes saved my life,” Kim shared, emphasising that Snipes likely has no idea who she is.

“He saved my life, he schooled the f**k out of me. He fully fathered me, and I have never forgot that.”

Kim revealed she has never seen Snipes again since that morning at the diner, but she used the podcast to send him a public thank-you: “Shout-out to Wesley Snipes. I hope this message gets to you.”

As she was walking out of the building at 5 am, she ran into Snipes. “I don’t know if Wesley Snipes lived in the building or what, but he was there,” Kim recalled.

After asking him for help getting home, he agreed, but told her, “Sure, but we’re going to have to stop for breakfast.”

Over eggs and pancakes, Snipes firmly but calmly corrected her behaviour, telling her she was “too young” to be out so late.

She has frequently had to step up to defend her children from the harsh glare of social media, particularly her eldest daughter, North West.

Whether it’s defending North’s art or her fashion choices, Kim has made it clear that she is her children’s fiercest advocate.

It seems the firm guidance Kim received from Snipes over breakfast has come full circle, as she now navigates the complexities of raising her own four children in the spotlight.
