Man sought in Gqeberha shooting that left three dead, six wounded

Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man who may be able to assist in the investigation into a Gqeberha mass shooting that left three people dead and six others wounded.

The Eastern Cape Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Investigation Unit is looking for Lukhanyo Mekula, who is considered a person of interest in the case.

The shooting took place at Wells Estate in Gqeberha last month.

Three people died at the scene, while six others were rushed to the hospital with serious gunshot wounds.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana said anyone with information on Mekula’s whereabouts is urged to come forward.

“Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Lukhanyo Mekula is urged to contact Sergeant Yali on 082-066-0329, or call Crime Stop on 08600-10111 or the MySAPSApp,” she said.

“All information will be treated as strictly confidential.”
