Megan Thee Stallion’s Broadway dreams hit a terrifying snag this week when the 31-year-old Grammy-winning rapper was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, March 31, after falling ill right in the middle of her performance in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical”.

Fans at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City got a serious scare when the show came to an abrupt halt shortly after the opening scenes.

Megan, who recently took on the iconic role of cabaret club owner Harold Zidler, had to be escorted off the stage.

Her spokesperson quickly released an official statement to address the sudden medical emergency.

“During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” the rep shared. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”

The situation behind the scenes seemed incredibly tense.

Megan’s hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, posted an urgent plea on X to rally her fanbase. “Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital,” he wrote.

Audience members were left in the dark for a brief period. Entertainment news correspondent and producer for “The Breakfast Club”, Loren LoRosa, was in the crowd and shared her real-time experience on social media.

She noted that Megan looked great during her initial scenes before everything came to a sudden stop.

The crew apologised to the confused audience and asked everyone to stay in their seats.

LoRosa even asked security if the crowd was safe, to which they replied that they were safe for now and would be updated if anything changed.

Eventually, an understudy stepped into Megan’s shoes to finish the remainder of the evening’s performance.

This unexpected health scare comes just a week after Megan made her highly anticipated Broadway debut on March 24.

She had been vocal about her excitement for this strictly limited eight-week engagement, which is scheduled to run through May 17.

Before the curtain first went up, the Houston native shared how thrilled she was to tackle the new medium.

“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” team is an absolute honour,” she said at the time.

“Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”
