Mi Casa’s 15-year journey has taken them far beyond South Africa, with the award-winning trio recently wrapping up a European tour that saw them bring their music to audiences in four cities.
J’Something, Dr Duda and Mo-T travelled through Dublin, London, Amsterdam and Lisbon as part of the tour, performing to audiences at venues including Opium, Village Underground, MELKWEG and LAV – Lisboa Ao Vivo.
Adding an unusual touch to the anniversary celebrations, the trio travelled between destinations in a fully branded Mi Casa double-decker bus.
Rather than simply serving as transport, the bus became part of the celebration itself, carrying the group and their team across Europe while putting their South African identity on display along the way.
The tour was presented in partnership with Brand South Africa and formed part of Mi Casa’s broader 15-year milestone, which has seen the group reflect on a career that has taken their sound to audiences beyond the country’s borders.
For the trio, the tour was also an opportunity to reconnect with South Africans living abroad while performing music from across their catalogue for international audiences.
The final stop in Lisbon carried an added significance for J’Something. With Portuguese heritage, performing in Portugal gave the vocalist an opportunity to celebrate a connection between his Portuguese roots and the South African identity that has remained central to Mi Casa’s story.
Fifteen years into their career, the group’s international reach continues to grow, with Mi Casa having accumulated close to 100 million global streams as well as multiple Gold and Platinum certifications.
And the anniversary celebrations are not over yet.
The group is expected to continue marking the milestone with new music and more special moments for the community that has followed them throughout their journey.
As Mi Casa puts it: “We built a house… and you made it a home.”
