MP’s worried National Assembly won’t be reconstructed before deadline

Members of Parliament are worried that the deadline of reconstructing Parliamentary precinct by 2025 will not be met. The Development Bank of Southern Africa was given the task and deadline of reconstructing the National Assembly.
The building was destroyed by fire in January last year.

Many domestic workers lost their jobs over the past year- report

The 2023 Report on Domestic Workers Pay and Work shows that many domestic workers have lost their jobs in the country over the past year.
The survey conducted by the online platform, SweepSouth, shows that many jobs were lost because of employers who were relocating.
The survey has also found that many domestic workers are spending more than they earn and are heavily indebted.

COCT clamps down on illegal dumping 

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Waste Management By-law Enforcement Officers say they had a fruitful two months to close out the past financial year. A total of 205 fines amounting to more than R540,000 were issued to illegal dumpers and 112 people were fined for littering during the period of May and June. The City says that if you spot illegal dumping activity you can contact the toll free number 0800 11 00 77. The City is also offering a reward of between R1,000 and R5,000 depending on the offence.

Thai businessman feels sorry for thieves, offers them a job 

In a heartwarming twist the owner of a water park in Thailand forgave thieves who stole from him and offered them a job instead. Its reported that the couple had stolen green tea, milk and other drinks from the shop at the water park. After the couple were arrested the owner found out that the couple had stolen the items to be part of the ingredients of homemade desserts they are selling to take care of their family. The owner then felt the emotions of the situation and then offered the couple a job instead.
