City to file planning approvals for a new ‘Safe Space’ in the Green Point area
Over 1 300 social housing units across five central Cape Town properties have now been approved in just over six months under the Mayoral Priority Programme for Affordable Housing Land Release. Around 300 more transitional shelter beds are also on the cards to help the homeless off the streets in the CBD and seaboard areas. The City will file planning approvals early next year for a new ‘Safe Space’ in Green Point, which will also include an opportunity for any affected parties to comment.

Postbank has suspended ATM withdrawals for Sassa beneficiaries for this month due to card fraud.
It’s advised recipients to get their grants at retailers. Sassa says their system detected suspicious activities and the matter is currently being investigated.
Loadshedding, get used to it- Eskom
Eskom has warned that loadshedding is likely going to remain with the country for the next 12 months.
The state-owned electricity producer announced that the power failures could be increased to stage 6 into the weekend.
Eskom is also not sure how long this round of powercuts is going to last.

South Koreans are set to become one or even two years younger – at least on official paperwork.
The South Korean parliament passed a law to scrap Korea’s two traditional methods of counting age.
From June next year, the so-called “Korean Age” system will no longer be permitted on official documents.
Only the standardised, internationally recognised method will remain. Currently, the most widely used calculation method in Korea is the so-called “Korean age system”, in which a person is one year old at birth and then gains a year on the first day of each new year.
