CT Metro Police officials make drug bust with drugs valued at R1m
The City of Cape Town’s Metro Police Department says in its efforts to clampdown on the criminal element, enforcement officials have recovered drugs with an estimated street value of R1million. Officers received a tip off about drugs being transported in the Strand area.
The Metro Police’s Ruth Solomons says they tracked down the vehicle, and during a search found 200 mandrax tablets and 2,64 kg of tik.
Security forces on standby for planned national shutdown
Government says its intelligence services are at work and security forces will be deployed around the country to deal with Monday’s planned national shutdown. Spearheaded by the EFF and supported by some other opposition parties and unions, the Red Beret’s are calling for an end to rolling blackouts and for President Cyril Ramaphosa to step down. Defence Minister Thandi Modise says the army is on standby for the planned national shutdown.
Eskom sees some improvements
Eskom has welcomed improvements in its generation capacity.
The power utility says six of its coal power stations have achieved an energy availability factor of 70 percent. Eskom acting spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, says this progress shows the positive trajectory from actions that were taken to recover the company’s generation plants.
NZ man decides to run nude to celebrate St Patrick’s Day
A man in New Zealand is said to have wanted to celebrate St Patrick’s Day today by making others green with envy by running in the streets full nude. The man is said to have been heavy intoxicated and under the influence of drugs. Police joked that the man was now wearing a new outfit – a blanket, as he sits in a police holding cell.
