President Cyril Ramaphosa says that workers in essential services like police and healthcare workers who are on strike are putting people’s lives in danger. The president says that in his view they should not be on strike as this poses a risk to South Africans who rely on essential services.

WCDSD honours social workers this month
The Western Cape Social Development Department says that for this month the department will continue to honour all social workers in the lead up to World Social Work Day on the 21st of March. Western Cape Social Development MEC Sharna Fernandez says social workers face enormous challenges that often impact on their mental health.
Google hopes to develop drone delivery network within the next 12months
A subsidiary of Alphabet, which owns Google, hopes to develop drone delivery-network technology able to handle millions of orders, within 12 months. The technology is being tested “at scale” in Logan, Australia, where drone network, Wing, delivers up to 1,000 packages a day. Chief executive Adam Woodworth says soon the delivery system will look “more like an efficient data network than a traditional transportation system”.
