Over 100 families receive new homes in Mitchells Plain

More than 100 families have received the keys to their new homes in Mitchells Plain. The Western Cape Government says that the Farm 694 New Woodlands Project will provide 434 housing opportunities for qualifying beneficiaries once completed. The project will bring two communities together from backyarders to those who resided in the Kosovo Main site in the Cape Town Metro.
Concern as high number of school learners vaping

Researchers and the education department is concerned, after a recent study found that a quarter of matric learners were vaping to deal with stress. The Western Cape Education Department has also expressed shock at the number of learners in other grades who are caught in possession of e-cigarettes at schools. The study which was conducted by UCT, also found that younger learners, in Grade 8 and even Grade 7 are vaping.
Many sign petition opposing unisex toilets at schools

Many South Africans have come out in full support of a petition opposing the Basic Education Department’s proposal to institute unisex toilets at schools. According to the education department this is to create a more inclusive school environment. However various role players and parents have banded together in protest against this, saying that with our high levels of sexual assault and abuse in the country, this further endangers the girl child at a place which is supposed to be safe and private.
