No hospital in the Northern Cape exempt from power cuts – Health minister

Major hospitals in the country are now exempt from loadshedding, however not one hospitals at this stage is exempt from rolling black outs in the Northern Cape. That’s the word from health minister Dr Joe Phaahla. The minister says a lot more work needs to be done in that province as well as in the Eastern Cape where only a few hospitals there have been exempt from power cuts.

Transport department implements measures to improve road safety

Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula, says his department has mobilized traffic law enforcement authorities to implement immediate measures to improve safety on the roads.

This is in the wake of the recent crash in Pangola in KwaZulu-Natal.

Mbalula says they will also be initiating block patrols in the form of compulsory stopping of trucks at certain intervals to ensure speed reduction.

ANC needs to listen to the working class – Losi

If the ANC wants to win the 2024 elections it must listen to the working class. That’s the call from Cosatu’s Zingiswa Losi who has retained her position as president after Cosatu’s four day congress.

Cosatu had also backed the SACP to contest the general elections.

New coins featuring the portrait of King Charles have been revealed, with a 50pence carrying his image entering general circulation within weeks.

The coins follow centuries of tradition with the monarch now facing left – the opposite way to his predecessor.

As with previous British kings, and unlike the Queen, he wears no crown. King Charles personally approved the effigy, and was understood to be pleased with the likeness.
