It may be completely fake—as in AI-generated—but a new video circulating online of Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus serenading the Webb Ellis Cup might just become a massive hit.
The video parodies the iconic scene from the movie White Chicks, where Terry Crews enthusiastically sings along to Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” in a convertible.
In this AI-crafted version posted by user just.fomzy, a digital likeness of the Springbok coach replaces Crews, belting out the track directly to the trophy.
Even though the clip is undeniably artificial, a lighthearted musical performance isn’t entirely beyond the realm of possibility for Erasmus.
The Springbok head coach has frequently embraced his playful side on social media, previously sharing videos of himself dancing to local hits like “Sister Bethina.” Erasmus was also part of the 1999 Springbok Rugby World Cup squad that filmed a memorable spoof running along the beach, parodying the famous opening scene from Chariots of Fire.
The viral clip arrives as the Springboks look to regroup following a high-scoring 42–38 defeat to Australia in Perth over the weekend. Much of the post-match discussion centred on the 13 squad changes Erasmus made for the clash, which ultimately saw the world champions fall to a resilient Wallabies side.
Before the setback in Perth, the Boks were riding high after securing a 3–1 Test series victory over the All Blacks—a historic series featuring three matches on South African soil and a finale in Baltimore, USA.
