Ntsiki Mazwai is known for her outspoken opinions, and this time, the poet has expressed that Penny Ntuli should be fined for her recent highway twerk, which has been the talk of the town.

“I love her, but I think she should be fined for this,” she wrote on X, commenting on another video of Ntuli twerking on the highway as trucks were approaching. In the clip, she is seen facing her behind towards the truck driver and twerking.

This second video differs from another that has been circulating online, which shows the Jozi FM radio host and her friend twerking on the side of a busy highway.

Explaining her reasoning, Ntuli took to Facebook on September 10 to address comments made by many netizens.

The 28-year-old media personality said she had been on a long-distance drive, felt tired, and decided to stop for some fresh air before dancing with her friend.

She clarified that she does not drink alcohol after people had commented that she did, stating that she does so due to her not being able to handle it.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has condemned the reckless behaviour on national roads, emphasising that stunts for social media can lead to tragic consequences.

“The RTMC is astonished by this behaviour on our national roads. Pedestrians under the National Road Traffic Act (NRTA) are prohibited on the freeways, and it’s illegal. Content creators should not risk their lives for ‘likes’.”

While Ntuli initially stated that she was not making her follow-up video with the intention of apologising, she has since taken the time to post an apology on her Facebook timeline.

“Africa, my continent. Africa, my home. Africa, the land of our ancestors. Africa, the land of my birth. To my truck-driving brothers, I apologise for my actions. “I did not intend to disturb you on the road or put your lives at risk,” she wrote.

Ntuli added that she was so excited, she forgot the rules of the road.
