Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Limpopo Tracking Team, in collaboration with the Polokwane Accident Response Unit and Tshimollo Security and Investigation, arrested a 35-year-old man for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

This operation was prompted by an alert from the Kempton Park policing area in Gauteng province regarding a stolen vehicle.

Following the notification, the anti-theft team promptly initiated a patrol on potential routes.

Their vigilance paid off when they spotted a grey Isuzu 250 Dteq-4×4 along the N1 North highway, adjacent to a local lodge.

Limpopo’s Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, expressed her gratitude for the team’s dedication and effectiveness in tackling vehicle theft.

“The vehicle was halted, and during a thorough search, it became clear that the driver, a South African citizen, was travelling alone and could not provide valid documentation for the vehicle. He was subsequently arrested at the scene for possession of the suspected stolen motor vehicle,” said police spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba.

The police later confirmed that the grey Isuzu, valued at R800,000, was indeed reported as stolen.

Limpopo’s Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, expressed her gratitude for the team’s dedication and effectiveness in tackling vehicle theft.

“We applaud our members for their commitment to their duties as they work tirelessly to recover stolen vehicles and bring offenders to justice,” she stated.

The arrested suspect is set to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday,  August 19 as investigations continue to unveil further details related to this case.
