Racket and Ball a new favourite for Peters as Lena-Lisa and Terina continue to dominate

South Africa’s upcoming Padel star Erin Peters returned to the Padel4Good court this weekend. Like many other players, she has fallen in love with the brand’s “new home” Racket and Ball Club, located in the popular and vibrant Bree Street, Cape Town.

The sporting charity, which previously rolled out 23 events in Paarden Eiland, hosted its first women’s event of the year on Saturday catering for ladies rated between 2.5 and 5 on the PlayTomic App.

Since opening its doors in December 2023, Racket and Ball has quickly established itself as a high-end venue with top-class facilities catered to some of the best Padel shows in South Africa.

This past weekend was no different as 32 players from across Cape Town stepped up to compete for honors and a great cause with all proceeds from the show heading to homes catering for women and children previously exposed to abuse and poverty across the Western Cape.

“My favorite venue must be Padel X (Somerset West) or Richmond 365 (Richmond Park). I have only played there once and I enjoyed the venue so much. However, after playing at the Racket and Ball, all three venues are tied,” said the Eastern Cape-born Peters.

Peters regularly earned provincial tennis colors before earning a spot on the SA Under-19 team in 2023.

Love for Padel

Since picking up a Padel racket, she has developed a great love for one of the fastest-growing sports in the world and has been earmarked to become a top brand, also receiving sponsorship from major Spanish brand Drop Shot.

While she did not walk away victorious on the day, Peters saw the event as another opportunity to hone her skills and enjoy her new-found love.

“I enjoyed today so much. The competition was amazing and it will only make my Padel game better. All the ladies playing today were amazing and played so incredibly well.”

The dominant sisters Lena Lisa Bester and Terina Coetzee again walked away as winners on the night.

This pair has quickly established themselves as “the team to beat” on Padel circuits across the Cape after winning every event they’ve played together (Cape Town 10’s x 2, Padel4Good x 3, and Sixes).

“It has been an incredible experience. Winning today’s competition feels amazing, especially considering the level of competition. I am proud of my partner (sister) and my performance and thankful for everyone who has supported me,” said Coetzee.

“Oh, what a wonderful event it always is! We knew there would be some strong couples competing today. While our main goal is always to have fun, winning the games adds extra excitement! These charity events often create a sense of unity and purpose, bringing people together for a cause that makes a difference. I feel inspired and hopeful. A charity event always holds a special place in my heart!” added Bester.

Padel4Good has already confirmed its next two events on the 2025 calendar (Mixed event: Friday 30th May, 6-10 pm, and Men’s event: Friday 27th June 6-10 pm.
