Ramaphosa rubbishes claims that SA is arming Russia for its war in Ukraine
The South African government has undertaken to institute an independent inquiry to be led by a retired judge into allegations by the US Ambassador to South Africa Reuben Brigety that Pretoria sent arms to Russia.
Russia invaded Ukraine in February last year. A Russian vessel, the “Lady R” docked in Simonstown in December last year and Brigety alleges it was loaded with South African ammunition. President Cyril Ramaphosa has meanwhile rubbished the claims
WATCH OUT, added loadshedding stages might be added
New regulations for loadshedding are proposing room for 16 stages of loadshedding. The new stages align with the National Rationalised Specifications Association’s proposals put forward in March. The stages past Stage 8 are being proposed as a precaution. This as experts warn of extreme bouts of loadshedding during the winter months.
NICD sees rise in mumps cases in parts of SA
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has declared an outbreak of mumps.
The NICD says it has recorded a sudden increase in cases in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Gauteng. Mumps is an acute viral infection caused by the rubulavirus, also known as the mumps virus.
It causes painful swelling of the parotid and or salivary glands.
CT Mayor hands keys to new houses this week
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, handed over keys to the new tenants at the Maitland Mews social housing development in Cape Town this week.
Two-hundred-and-four units have been completed at the development while 2500 are still in construction.
The mayor says the development will provide dignity to the tenants.
