Reddam House Umhlanga Grade 8 learner Nobubelebesisa “Nobe” Zwane has been selected for the South Africa U19 Women’s squad that will tour Pakistan for the team’s inaugural Youth T20 International (T20I) series.

The selection comes shortly after Nobe was named in the South African U19 Women’s Cricket Training Camp at the Cricket South Africa Centre of Excellence in Pretoria, where players are preparing for the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup in 2027.

Representing KZN Coastal, Nobe has secured her place in the national high-performance environment while still in Grade 8, competing alongside players several years older than her.

Grade 8 learner Nobubelebesisa “Nobe” Zwane has been selected for the South Africa U19 Women’s squad that will tour Pakistan for the team’s inaugural Youth T20 International (T20I) series.

Nobe began her cricket journey in Grade 1 and joined a cricket academy in Grade 5 to further develop her skills. At the age of 11, she earned selection for the KZN U13 team and later captained the side while in Grade 7.

She said representing KZN Coastal was an achievement she had never imagined possible and credited the experience with exposing her to talented players and new learning opportunities.

The young cricketer said progressing to provincial level required a significant mental adjustment as she adapted from age-group cricket to competing at a higher standard.

As she prepares for the Pakistan tour, Nobe said she is looking forward to gaining experience, creating memories and embracing the opportunity to learn.

Balancing academics and elite sport has been made easier through the structured environment at Reddam House Umhlanga, where she says boarding school routines and transport arrangements help her manage both commitments.

Looking ahead, Nobe has set her sights on earning selection for the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup in 2027.

She encouraged young people not to compare their progress with others, saying success comes through patience, faith and hard work.

Reddam House Umhlanga Executive Head, Chad Moses, described Nobe’s selection as a significant milestone and a reflection of her hard work, discipline and commitment.

He said her achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished through ambition, perseverance and the right support structures.

Nobe’s selection marks another step in a cricket journey that has taken her from school cricket in Grade 1 to provincial and national recognition within a few years, as she prepares to represent South Africa on the international stage.
