Plans to reduce loadshedding on track- Ramokgopa
Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says the exemption of emission regulations will give Eskom an opportunity to return three units to service at Kusile power station. Ramokgopa also says his department is on track to reducing rolling blackouts.
Ramokgopa says the units will contribute about 2,400 megawatts to the grid.
New data finds more South Africans plan to work past retirement
New data from First National Bank (FNB) show that South Africans plan to work past retirement age due to a lack of retirement savings.
According to the FNB Retirement Insight Survey, entry-level, middle-income, and emerging affluent will not maintain their current lifestyles in retirement.
The institution said most people say they will rely on social grants as part of retirement.
Sama concerned about NHI bill in its current form
The South African Medical Association (Sama) wants more consultation with the government before the National Health Insurance Bill (NHI) is implemented.
Sama has expressed concern about the implementation of the bill in its current form.
The National Assembly passed the bill earlier this month.
Some of Sama’s concerns include its mistrust of the government and the public healthcare sector’s medical staff shortage.
Rollercoaster accident in Sweden kills one person
A rollercoaster accident at an amusement park in Sweden has killed one person and injured at least nine.
The ride at the Gröna Lund park in Stockholm came partly off the rails. The Jetline rollercoaster reaches a height of 30m and a speed of 90km/h.
The park was evacuated after the accident and police and emergency services were called to the scene.
