Singer Shakira has reached a deal with prosecutors to end her trial for allegedly defrauding the Spanish government of 14.5 million euros. The singer was due to embark on a lengthy trial after she was accused of not paying tax on income earned between 2012 and 2014. Spain has in recent years cracked down on celebrities like football stars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for not paying their full due in taxes.
The Eastern Cape Hawks have opened an investigation into an alleged dodgy Buffalo City Metro fibre internet connection tender. According to the Daily Dispatch, a whistleblower claims that a ward councillor awarded the contract after allegedly demanding a reward from the service provider. The councillor allegedly elicited more than 22-thousand rand from the deal.
