After months of capturing hearts on stage and off the field, the world’s pop princess, Taylor Swift and football star, Travis Kelce, have officially sealed their love story with a dazzling “yes”, and the world cannot get enough.
The engagement that broke the internet
Swift and Kelce turned their headline-making romance into a fairytale engagement after the pair took to Instagram on Tuesday, August 26, to announce the exciting news of their engagement.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the couple captioned their joint Instagram post and shared carousel images of their fairytale engagement in a flower-filled garden.
The multi-award-winning singer’s magical moment was adorned with a striped silk Polo Ralph Lauren dress, cognac-colored Louis Vuitton sandals, and her diamond-studded Cartier Santos Demoiselle watch.
Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, revealed all the details about the engagement in a recent interview with “News 5 Cleveland”.
He shared that his son proposed almost two weeks agoin a garden in Lee Summit, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City.
“He was gonna put it off till this week. I think she was maybe getting a little antsy, but he was gonna put it off until this week to make some grand thing and make it a big, special event.
“And I told him repeatedly that you could do it on the side of the road or any place, that makes it a special event when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you,” Kelce’s father said.
Swift also shared a picture of her stunning vintage-inspired ring, which is an elongated antique cushion-cut diamond that is approximately eight carats.
The ring is estimated to cost around $500,000 (approximately R8,823,866) to $550,000 (approximately R9,705,023) according to multiple online reports.
According to “Page Six”, Kelce co-designed the ring with jeweller Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine.

A lot of celebs were happy to hear the news of Swift’s engagement, including Sabrina Carpenter, who shared white hearts on her Instagram Stories. While Avril Lavigne wrote: “Awww, huge congratulations to @taylorswift and @killertrav.”

In addition, the Kansas City Chiefs took to Instagram as well to congratulate the lovebirds and even proclaimed that Swift is now a permanent member of the football team.
“Today is a fairytale. Congrats to Travis and Taylor – we’re excited to have you as a permanent member of the Chiefs Kingdom family!” they captioned the post.
American president, Donald Trump, also joined in on the celebrations and said that he wishes Swift and Taylor luck for the next chapter of their love story.
He said during a press conference: “I wish them a lot of luck. I think he’s a great player, a great guy. I think she’s a terrific person.”
