Residents in Cape Town have been reminded of a planned power outage by the City of Cape Town on Saturday, June 20.
The planned outage is expected to affect residents living in the southern suburbs.
The City said this was due to critical electricity upgrades in Plumstead and the surrounding areas.
“The City reminds residents of Plumstead and the surrounding areas of upcoming critical electricity supply interruptions for infrastructure upgrades and maintenance, which will be carried out on Saturday, June 20, 2026,” it said.
The City said it is important to note that interruptions to the electricity supply will only impact the areas on the relevant date.
The work will be carried out from 8.00pm on Saturday, June 20, until 8.00am on Sunday, June 21, if all goes according to plan.
“An alternate date is also provided should the work not go ahead as planned,” the City said.
The power outage may impact parts of the following areas:
- Plumstead
- Grassy Park
- Lotus River
- Ottery
- Wetton
- Fairways
- Wynberg
- Rosmead
- Parkwood
- Southfield
“The City apologises for any inconvenience caused while the essential maintenance is being carried out,” it said.
