Netflix is pouring a little romance into the festive season with “Love & Wine”, a new romantic comedy set among the rolling vineyards of the Cape Winelands.

The film is set to bring together Ntobeko Sishi, known for his role as Ntokozo on “Gomora” and Thandolwethu Zondi, from Netflix’s “Go!”, in leading roles, with Masali Baduza, Thando Thabethe and Bongile Mantsai completing the cast.

Filled with charm, mischief and the kind of chemistry that pairs well with a summer watch, “Love & Wine” offers a local spin on a classic love story.

Based on the Brazilian hit Ricos de Amor, the story follows Ovee, played by Sishi, a wealthy heir determined to prove he is more than his family’s fortune.

Hoping to earn his place at his father’s winery, Ovee ropes in his best friend and driver, Nathi, who is played by Zondi, to help him pull off a bold plan of swapping identities to see if love and ambition can thrive beyond social class.

Things take a turn when Ovee falls for Amahle (Baduza), a hardworking medical student who believes he comes from humble beginnings.

At the same time, Nathi, now living Ovee’s life of luxury, finds himself drawn to Lena (Thabethe), the winery’s sharp-tongued, but captivating manager.

What starts as a playful scheme between besties soon unravels into a mix of romantic confusion and some self-discovery.

Thabethe announced her role on Instagram, saying, “Listen when I say the BEST and most hilarious time on this set, I’m not exaggerating!!! Can’t wait for you to meet Lena. #LoveAndWine coming to @netflixsa 5 Dec.”

“Love & Wine” brings together some of South Africa’s most recognisable faces in a story that blends laughter, charm and heartfelt moments.

The faces include Desmond Dube, Thembsie Matu and Rorisang Mohapi, to name a few.
