After nearly a year, Unit One at the Koeberg Power Station was successfully synchronised to the grid this weekend. For the duration of the Unit One outage, which to date has been the longest in the history of the facility, Unit Two has been safely generating electricity to the grid. Koeberg is the only nuclear power station in South Africa with a total capacity of 1 860MW (about 5% of total electricity generated by Eskom). The two units at the station are the largest generating units in Africa.
