Mac G, real name MacGyver Mukwevho, and Sol Phenduka, hosts of “Podcast and Chill”, had the honour of visiting His Royal Highness King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.

They were joined by the latest addition to their podcast network, the controversial and outspoken broadcaster Ngizwe Mchunu.

The trio visited the AmaZulu King at one of his royal palaces, where a video of Mukwevho and Phenduka dressed in traditional African attire, seated on the floor while paying homage to the king, has gone viral on X.

In the video, Mac G light-heartedly jokes with King Misuzulu, asking for financial support to bring American rapper Young Thug to perform in South Africa.

Reports indicate that Young Thug is one of the King’s favourite artists.

Mac G said: “We’d like to ask for money because we heard that you are a fan of Young Thug, so we want to book him.”

This bold request elicited laughter from those present.

Following this interaction, Phenduka asked the King whether he still listens to hip hop.

King Misuzulu responded with humour, stating that while he enjoys hip hop, he does not engage in its culture, such as wearing his trousers low.

“I can’t wear my pants low. It would be questioned: what is the king doing now?” he laughed.

“But I support it,” he added.

King Misuzulu spent time in the United States, where he earned a degree in International Relations from Jacksonville University in Florida.

As a result of his modern approach, the younger generation affectionately refers to him as “Bayede Dawg” on social media, portraying him as a relatable and “cool” monarch.

In addition to his studies in the US, he spent part of his childhood in Eswatini, his mother’s home country, where he attended primary school.

Recently, the Constitutional Court affirmed King Misuzulu’s status as the legitimate heir to the AmaZulu monarchy, dismissing Prince Simakade Zulu’s application to appeal the Supreme Court of Appeal’s (SCA) decision that recognised King Misuzulu as the king of the Zulu nation.
