City officials and community leaders held an urgent meeting with Eskom regarding a prolonged outage in Elsies River. Eskom reports that power has been restored to 60% of affected customers and anticipates full restoration. While the City acknowledges the inconvenience, it calls for calm and increased efforts to address theft and vandalism of power infrastructure in the metro.
The Consumer Price Inflation (CPI) increased again, rising to five-point-nine percent in October. According to Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), the third consecutive increase saw prices rise on average by zero-point-nine percent between September and October. Among the drivers of high inflation were higher food prices and transport costs. Analysts say the increase marks a negative turn for consumer prices.
