Cape Town is hosting the final leg of the SPAR Women’s Grand Prix Series on Sunday 23 October 2022. The City of Cape Town is one of the sponsors for the event taking place at the Green Point Precinct.
‘Our partnership with the Cape Town SPAR Grand Prix event goes back many years and it is part of the City’s commitment to enabling women’s sports and providing more opportunities for female athletes to showcase their abilities. In addition, we want to encourage a healthy lifestyle among those in our city and this event obviously also presents a fun day out for athletes who will be looking to achieve their personal bests. We are deploying our Safety and Security services on race day to ensure the event runs smoothly, and to ensure traffic management in areas that will be impacted by the race route,’ – said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith.
The City of Cape Town is encouraging all residents to go through their garage, cupboards and drawers and take any old, broken or obsolete devices or chargers to one of the City’s drop off sites for proper disposal. The Urban waste management department says its crucial that residents are made aware of possible health risks and lost resources when appliances are disposed of incorrectly.
