The second baboon spotted roaming in Durban has been safely captured.

The Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife confirmed that the second animal was caught after their team set up a trap for it.

According to CROW, the baboon had followed local monkeys to a residential complex after it was spotted in the Malvern area.

CROW confirmed that it is a male baboon and the initial baboon previously spotted and caught, is a female.

“He has been taken to our vet for examination and will be transported back to our centre.

“Once back at our facility, we will share more information on the next steps. We believe that all the baboons have now been caught, and residents of Durban can let their guard down. Both baboons are safe and secure,” a spokesperson from CROW said.

It is believed that the animals stowed away on a vessel from Cape Town and got off the vessel when it docked at the Durban harbour.
