A Cape Town family is reeling in shock after their one-week-old baby was abducted.
Baby Mogamat Imaad Shamar was last seen on Saturday, June 28.
The Western Cape Missing Persons Unit (WCMPU) has shared flyers of the young baby all over social media, hoping he has been seen by anyone.
Baby Shamar was last seen wearing a white vest, a white crawler with cars on it, and covered with a blue blanket.
According to the WCMPU, the child was abducted from the Middestad Mall in Bellville and was taken by a woman only known as “Chivon”.
The missing person’s poster being shared.
The woman allegedly approached the baby’s mother while she was still pregnant and claimed she was from an organisation that assisted young mothers with counselling and care packages.
After the mother gave birth, “Chivon” took the new mother for a bite to eat. However, after a while, the mother fell ill and went to the bathroom. Upon returning from the bathroom, she discovered that “Chivon” was gone as well as her baby.
Police have not yet responded to inquiries.
In a separate incident in the Eastern Cape, police are searching for the mother of a baby that was found dumped on Saturday.
It is alleged that on Saturday, police were summoned to a scene and on arrival, they found +- four-week-old baby boy dumped and still alive. The baby was taken to the hospital for medical examination, and a case of child neglect was opened.
