Speculation is mounting around Felix Hlophe and his future at Gagasi FM, after a recent social media post prompted concern among listeners.
The Durban-based radio presenter shared a Facebook post on March 22, titled “Reflections”, looking back on his broadcasting career.
The post featured posters from shows he has hosted over the years – from “The Jump Start” to “The Uprising”, which he currently co-hosts with Minnie Ntuli.
The post quickly drew reactions from fans, with many questioning whether Hlophe was preparing to leave the station.
One user, Phindile Khulisiwe Yeni, suggested a move towards independence, saying the media landscape is shifting in favour of independent creators.
Others expressed concern, with Thandakwenkosi Shezi commenting: “I hope you’re not leaving Gagasi FM.”
Siphamandla Nkwanyana appeared to assume his departure, writing: “Goodbye Hlophe, you served Gagasi FM with distinction.”
The speculation comes during South Africa’s annual radio reshuffle period, when stations begin announcing new line-ups for the year ahead.
Hlophe’s recent absence from his morning show has added to the uncertainty.
He was off-air from March 17, with Heazy stepping in alongside Ntuli.
He returned to the airwaves on March 23, where he indicated he would be incorporating more isiZulu into his broadcasts.
This has further fuelled rumours that he could be moving to Ukhozi FM, a rival station known for its predominantly isiZulu programming.
In December 2025, Gagasi FM confirmed that Hlophe had been granted time off following allegations on social media relating to a domestic incident involving his wife, Tracy Hlophe.
According to reports circulating at the time, Tracy allegedly fled with their children to a neighbour’s home.
Videos of the incident were widely shared online.
In response, the station said the break would allow for further assessment of the situation and give Hlophe time to address personal matters.
He later issued a public apology and returned to work on January 19.
At this stage, neither Hlophe nor Gagasi FM has confirmed any departure.
However, his recent post and time off-air have kept fans speculating about what comes next.
