President says those involved in corruption will be brought to book
President Cyril Ramaphosa says that all those who were involved in corruption or even those who are thinking of it will be brought to book. This comes as the President addressed the nation last night where he unveiled the states response plan to the state capture report. President Ramaphosa also expressed gratitude to Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, along with him recognising former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela whose initial investigation laid the foundation for the State Capture Commission and the report which followed.
Libraries are safe spaces for learners needing to study- COCT
As learners and students begin writing their final exams, the City of Cape Town says that libraries are safe spaces to study, learn and conduct research. The City says that many of its libraries are offering a number of aids to help learners prepare for their exams. Councillor Patricia van der Ross says that often libraries are the only quiet or safe spaces for many learners and they provide free access to educational material, study guides, internet access and other resources.

Cape Town will be participating in this year’s Great Southern Bioblitz challenge alongside other cities in the southern hemisphere in an effort to record the local diversity of plant and animal life. Entry to the City’s nature reserves will be free from this Friday the 28th to Sunday the 31st of October while the challenge is on.

Operation Smile performs 23 cleft lip surgeries in EC Hospital
Operation Smile has performed 23 cleft lip surgeries at the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in the Eastern Cape. In a statement released onto Facebook, the Eastern Cape Health Department said the goal of the weekend surgical programme was to assist the more than 20 children and one adult in receiving the life changing surgery and to support the transfer of skills to local medical professionals. A group of 20 volunteers which include, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, pediatricians, therapists and psycho scoal specialists joined hands with hospital staff to ensure the success of the operations.
