Magashule loses last bid to overturn ANC suspension
Suspended ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule lost his last legal bid to overturn the party’s suspension against him. The Constitutional Court dismissed Magashule’s application for leave to appeal, saying there is no reasonable prospect for success. The suspended secretary general wanted his suspension declared unlawful, invalid and unconstitutional. He remains suspended from the ANC.
DA wants Isipingo lagoon pollution to be discussed in parliament
Authorities in the eThekwini municipality are continuing to test water samples from the Isipingo lagoon after dead fish washed up on its shores. The DA in KwaZulu Natal is now wanting the matter to be escalated and be discussed in parliament. The party says the Isipingo Beach pump station has been in a state of disrepair since the April floods. Local fishermen also say they are shocked by the harmful pollution levels in the lagoon.
WP Gov continues calls for police devolution
The Western Cape government is continuing with its pursuit of wanting the devolution of police. With increasing deadly shootings in the Mother City, the provincial government believes that if the police were under its watch, the service would be more capable of curbing crime. Police Minister Bheki Cele had previously questioned this view saying that constitutionally placing the police under the authority of the Western Cape government was not constitutionally possible, but the provincial government has hit back at this sayings its something that can be done.

Panama presidential hopeful posts plea for help after helicopter crash
A presidential candidate in Panama has posted a dramatic plea for help on social media after his helicopter crashed into the country’s jungle.
Dimitri Flores, an independent candidate seeking to stand in elections in 2024, posted the video from the scene after his aircraft crashed in a mountainous area in western Panama.
The helicopter was said to be carrying six people, including Flores who said he thanks God that they are alive.

Disney to launch ad-supported service in bid to surpass Netflix
Disney will launch a new ad-supported streaming service in the US in December, as it overtakes Netflix in the race for paid subscribers.
The firm reported 221.1 million subscribers across its three streaming platforms at the start of July.
That put it just ahead of Netflix, which has been losing accounts.
