Monkeypox outbreak in SA reason for concern – Phaahla

The Monkeypox Virus in South Africa is a cause for concern as a fifth case had been recorded. That’s the word from health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla who gave a media update earlier saying that more than 320 tests for the disease have been conducted to date. The latest case is said to be a 28 year old man from Johannesburg with a travel history of being in the Netherlands and Spain before showing symptoms of the Monkeypox Virus.

Godongwana said to be complying with investigations into sexual allegations

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana is said to be complying with investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct brought against him. He however denies the assault claims and says he takes the allegations levelled against him very seriously. He has further asked law enforcement agencies to be allowed space to complete their investigations.

Kidnapped six year old returns home unharmed

Six year old Shanawaaz Asghar has been reunited with his family after he was abducted from his home on Wednesday morning. Currently details around his abduction is not available at this stage, but the family says Shanawaaz is unharmed and in good spirits. Police are continuing to investigate the kidnapping. No arrests have yet been made.

More New Zealanders evacuate amid flooding

A New Zealand city devastated by flooding will take years to recover, as hundreds more homes were evacuated.

The Pacific nation has been lashed by wild weather with the Nelson-Tasman district on the South Island bearing the brunt after 75 centimetres of rain reportedly fell over three days. Nelson Mayor Rachel Reese said the damage to roads and the city’s infrastructure will “take years, not months” to repair.

Stolen library book returns after 50 years

An Ohio library says a book returned to the facility after 50 years was more than merely overdue – after it was stolen. The book Tarzan and the Tarzan Twins by Edgar Rice Burroughs, was mailed back to the library recently with a note explaining its long absence. The book will get back into the circulation again.
