Chicken R2 more expensive to produce now- Astral Foods 

South Africa’s largest poultry producer Astral foods days the cost of producing a chicken is now R2 per kilogram higher than the selling price.
It warns that the company’s half-year profit could plunge by up to 90% as it struggles to cover soaring feed costs and costs related to power cuts.

Stage 5 power cuts to continue through to Sunday PM 

Eskom has announced Stage 5 power cuts will continue throughout today through to Sunday afternoon.
The power utility is blaming this on breakdowns of generating units at Camden, Kendal, Lethabo, and Majuba power stations.

Invasive borer beetle found in tree in Newlands 

The City of Cape Town is warning residents that a tree infested with the invasive shot hole borer beetle was discovered on a private property in Newlands this week. While the City will only know how many trees have been infested once the assessment has been concluded, it confirmed that at least one tree had been impacted.

Donald Trump to return to Facebook and Instagram 

Donald Trump will be allowed back on to Facebook and Instagram, after Meta announced it would be ending its two-year suspension of his accounts. In a statement, Nick Clegg, Meta’s president of global affairs, said the public “should be able to hear what their politicians are saying”.
