Support NGO’s which support victims of GBV – WC Social Development Department
The Western Cape Department of Social Development is calling on the private sector to support Non-Government Organisations that support victims of gender-based violence.
According to the department, this sector has experienced an increase in operational costs.
The Western Cape opened six new gender-based violence shelters during this financial year.
Cleansing programme commences in Lotus River
The City of Cape Town’s enhanced cleansing programme is commencing at the Community Residential Units in Lotus River, which aims to improve the living conditions of residents. The City launched this programme as a part of its broader Units maintenance and upgrade programme earlier this year. The City says, this programme has already kicked off in a number of areas where the City has affordable rental accommodation and they are pleased with the work that has been completed so far right before the holiday season.

The City of Cape Town’s Solid Waste Department is encouraging residents to note the operating times for refuse and recycling collections and the City’s drop-off facilities for the holiday period. Residents are also advised that staff are not permitted to solicit Christmas boxes or donations, although residents are free to offer a token of gratitude for services provided during the year.
