Prime Video has cancelled Ride or Die after one season.
The series, which was released in June, stars Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer alongside Hannah Waddingham, who also serves as an executive producer.
Ride or Die follows best friends Debbie Claybourne (Spencer) and Judith Burton (Waddingham), who believe they know everything about each other.
That changes when Debbie discovers that Judith is an international assassin.
After a mysterious figure from Judith’s past emerges and a hit goes wrong, the friends are forced to go on the run together.
Their journey takes them across Europe as they try to evade law enforcement, highly trained assassins and dangerous criminals.
According to Deadline, Prime Video has decided not to renew the series for a second season.
There is currently no news on whether Ride or Die could be picked up by another streaming service.
Following the cancellation, Spencer shared her thoughts on social media.
She thanked the teams behind the series and reflected on the experience of bringing the project to life.
“I hope every creative out there gets to have the incredible experience that I’ve had bringing this project to life with the unwavering support from Skydance/Paramount these past three years,” Spencer wrote.
She also thanked Matt Thunell, Dana, Shelley and Blair, as well as Barbara and Double Dream.
“Projects like this shouldn’t be the exception, they should be rule!” she added.
Spencer also thanked viewers who connected with Debbie and Judith.
“For all the women out there who felt seen, laughed out loud, lived out loud with Debbie and Judith, thank you,” she wrote.
Alongside Spencer and Waddingham, the cast includes Ed Skrein as Billy, Calam Lynch as Sam, Savannah Steyn as Queenie and Jamie Parker as David.
Jacky Ido plays Jacques, while Sylvia Hoeks stars as Ana and Bill Nighy plays The Director.
