KwaZulu-Natal Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs MEC Reverend Musa Zondi announced the appointment of a new board of directors for Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN).

This eight-member board, consisting of prominent figures from various sectors including business, academia, law, and civil society, will serve a term of five years, concluding in 2030.

TIKZN’s new Strategic Plan 2025-2030 is ready to be launched, and the board’s appointment comes at a crucial time.

The entity’s vision is to become a primary partner in developing a sustainable and inclusive economy in KZN through trade and investment. The incoming board will be essential in achieving this vision by ensuring accountability and providing strategic guidance and governance oversight.

The members of the new TIKZN Board of Directors are:

  1. Mr Musawenkosi Myeni (chairperson)
  2. Prof Thandi Nzama (deputy chairperson)
  3. Dr Sakhile Mpungose (returning)
  4. Ms Siphumelele Dlungwane
  5. Mr Bheki Mkhize (returning)
  6. Adv Nqabayethu Buthelezi
  7. Ms Janet Channing
  8. Dr Sihle Ndlovu

“The men and women we have appointed to TIKZN’s board, are more than capable of providing governance oversight to the entity. Their collective commitment to economic advancement and provincial development will serve as a catalyst for TIKZN’s continued success and institutional excellence,” Zondi said.

The board’s appointment comes six months after Sihle Ngcamu was appointed TIKZN chief executive officer. He had been acting since October 2023.

The previous board said Ngcamu brings a wealth of executive management experience to this role.

Ngcamu joined TIKZN in 2016 as the executive manager for Investment Promotion, where he has been instrumental in destination marketing, investment targeting and facilitation, and business retention and expansion.
