Western Cape Health Department on high alert amid increased cases of gastro among young children

The Western Cape Health Department says its on high alert as warmer temperatures will begin seeing an increase in gastro cases among young children. The department says that parents who notice their child has symptoms of severe diarrhoea and possible dehydration should immediately seek help at their nearest healthcare facility. Speaking to Magic News Emergency Medicine Specialist Dr Charl van Loggerenberg says parents are encouraged to make their own rehydrate formula for children or to purchase a commercially available one.
