Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma was arrested in Kensington on Friday following a coordinated operation involving the SAPS Interpol National Central Bureau, Crime Intelligence and the Organised Crime Investigation Unit.
Tshuma, 45, is sought by UK authorities in connection with the murders of his wife, 42-year-old Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, and the couple’s two daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5.
The three victims were discovered on Monday after officers forced entry into the family’s home in Great Denham, near Bedford, following concerns that they had not been seen for several days.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the arrest follows a swift intelligence-led investigation that enabled officers to trace and apprehend the fugitive in Johannesburg.
Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, praised the officers involved in the operation, describing the arrest as an example of effective cooperation between specialised SAPS units and international law enforcement partners.
Dimpane said the successful operation sent a clear message that South Africa would not serve as a refuge for people attempting to evade justice.
“This arrest demonstrates that South Africa is not a safe haven for fugitives. Anyone who believes they can evade justice by fleeing to our country should know that SAPS will work tirelessly with international law enforcement partners to trace, locate and arrest them,” she said.
Mathe said Tshuma is expected to appear in court on Monday.

Most recent filings show that the business had just over £1 million (over R21 million) in assets at the end of 2024.
