
DStv subscribers will have five new packages to choose from this week as MultiChoice rolls out one of its biggest changes to the pay-TV service’s offering in South Africa.
From September 17, the current package structure will make way for new streaming options priced from R99 to R799 a month, including dedicated sports and movies and series packages.
The changes will also bring new channels to DStv as MultiChoice reshapes its offering around changing viewing habits and what South Africans are prepared to pay for entertainment.
The overhaul was announced in early Septembner at a media briefing at MultiChoice City in Randburg by Willington Ngwepe, chief executive officer of MultiChoice (Pty) Ltd.
The new DStv packages
Subscribers will be able to choose from five packages:
- Starter – R99 a month: 85 channels
- Select – R299 a month: 100 channels
- Sports – R399 a month: 115 channels
- Movies & Series – R500 a month: 115 channels
- Premium – R799 a month: 130 channels
New channels are coming too
The package shake-up isn’t the only change.
DStv is also introducing new destination channel brands, including Wethu+, SuperSport Kickoff, SuperSport Football Plus, M-Net Movies+, Stars and Legends.
Ngwepe said new and more exciting content would form part of MultiChoice’s wider strategy to offer customers value, alongside the changes to its packages.
