This week on Jetsetting with Janet, host Janet Pillai speaks to David King, Project Manager of Cape Town Air Access at WESGRO.

The Cape Town Air Access (CTAA) project is the result of an innovative partnership formed between Wesgro, the Western Cape Government, the City of Cape Town, Airports Company South Africa, South African Tourism, and Cape Town Tourism.

The main focus of the project is to intensify and broaden the Western Cape Air Access to targeted African and international markets, and in so doing improve the Western Cape in economic competitiveness.

Launched in 2015, the initiative has seen government, tourism and local businesses all working together in order to promote, develop and maintain national and international air routes to and from Cape Town International Airport.

“It takes a while to convince most of the airlines of the suitability of Cape Town. We also have to convince them that it is a destination with potential. Luckily, Cape Town is a very easy sell. I mean, it’s got a lot going for it. And it’s known across the world, you know, as a bucket list destination,” he said.
